In Chapter 13, “Integrating & Documenting Sources” like the other chapters in the Bedford Book of Genres, it uses an example student named emily to show how to cite sources and use them effectively in papers. It also gives examples on how to cite in different formats, like MLA, which we will be using for our annotated bibliography. They also use a student named Omar to show how to quote sources in your papers. Both of these examples are very helpful since we are quoting resources in our research papers. It answers the basic questions when quoting a source, like how, what, when to and when not to quote the source. It says we should never change what the quote says when paraphrasing, just reword it. This is helpful since we will be paraphrasing a lot of information in our interviews for our personal profiles. They then use a sample student named Paul to actually show how to paraphrase. Overall, this chapter will be a great resource I will be going back to as I write my research paper, the information on citing, quoting, and paraphrasing will be extremely helpful when it comes time for all of that in my project considering it is my first time doing all of this.
